While abroad on a recent trip to Milan, a dazzling display of colour caught our eye.
The brand in the spotlight was SOOD Eyewear, and discovering their frames felt like uncovering hidden gems.
In this article, we explore the SOOD Eyewear brand, their colourful frame collections, their independent ownership, and their alluring luxury French heritage.
If colourful eyewear excites you as much as it does us, this is well worth the read…
Why the SOOD Eyewear brand caught our eye:
It was the colours that caught our eye first. They are beautiful, unexpected combinations of purple and lime, neon green, and hot pink that simply cannot be expressed adequately in photographs alone—they simply have to be viewed in person!
But, it wasn’t just their eyewear that caught our attention…
The people behind the collection were just as inspiring.
And, here’s the exciting part: while SOOD is already known and loved in select luxury boutique optical practices across France, Style Optique is the first and only practice in the UK to bring this collection to you.
They’re not available online, on the high street, or anywhere else in the UK.
Just here at Style Optique.
About the independent French eyewear brand:
SOOD Eyewear is a creator-led, independent French eyewear brand.
The brand is dedicated to crafting timeless, refined frames that blend graphic lines with effortless elegance, for those who value individuality and authenticity.
SOOD Eyewear is a family owned and operated brand devoted to utilising noble, raw materials, and designing in-house in their French atelier. It’s independent French eyewear luxury at its best.
Why we fell in love
When we choose new collections, we always start with you.
We ask ourselves questions, such as:
Have our clients been asking for more colour, less colour, unique colour combination? Different shapes? Something more chunky or lightweight? And so on.
Then we look for frames with character. Something with a striking twist, something with its own identity, that expressed individuality rather than simply following trends. And, finally (and this really matters to us), we look at the people behind the brand. Because eyewear isn’t just about the frames for us. It’s about who designs them, how they are made, and whether the people behind them genuinely care.
SOOD ticked every single box. Colourful, comfortable, and created by a couple who truly love what they do.
The designers behind the SOOD Eyewear brand
Two people. One beautiful collection.
Behind SOOD eyewear are the lovely Emmanuel and Karine, a French couple who lovingly built the brand together.
Emmanuel designs every frame himself drawing inspiration from modern art and graphic lines. You can really feel that in the shapes.
Karine brings the optician’s expertise. Her focus is fit, comfort, lightness and wearability.
She’s the one who makes sure Emmanuel doesn’t get carried away with the aesthetics alone; ensuring the designs look amazing, and feel amazing on, too.
Why we love working with family brands
As a small family business, there’s something really special about working with other family-run, founder-led brands.
Over the years, we have built close relationships with Betty and Dixie, the sisters behind Francis Klein Eyewear (a collection that originated from their parents), with Sabine and her husband , behind Sabine Be eyewear, and more recently, with Karen and Jason Kirk of Kirk and Kirk eyewear.
And now SOOD Eyewear joins that family.
With these collections, we don’t deal with layers of corporate teams. We speak directly with the designers themselves. This means we know the story behind your frames, understand how they are made, and can guide you properly on colour, fit and styling, because we’re connected to the actual people who created them.
It’s just like when you come to Style Optique…and you get us (Eva and Sam Dave).
In a world that’s becoming increasingly corporate and faceless, this kind of connection really matters to us. And we believe it’s needed now more than ever before.
SOOD Eyewear quality and craftsmanship:
Co-founder, Emmanuel. sketches each concept by hand before prototyping it in the SOOD atelier near Nantes, in France. This ensures precise forms, ergonomic comfort, and a distinctive play of angles, curves, and thicknesses.
Then, using subtle, original acetates derived from cotton, often enhanced with discreet metal inserts, SOOD creates eyeglasses and sunglasses with undeniable character.
Each frame is handmade by independent artisans in the Jura region of France, an area famous for eyewear craftsmanship, further illustrating SOOD Eyewear’s commitment to high-quality craftsmanship, responsible local production, and the preservation of France’s rich lunetier tradition.
In a world of mass production, cheap metals, and low-quality acetates, collections like SOOD Eyewear (and the other brands we proudly carry at Style Optique) stand apart from the high street. They are high quality, thoughtfully made works of art, rather than disposable fashion accessories.
SOOD Eyewear Collections
Showcasing distinctive French savoir-faire, SOOD Eyewear collections are categorised in four categories:
- Acetate

- Metal & Metal Combination

Each category includes a collection of highly unique frames that are as playful as they are sophisticated.
