It’s long been known that having a sexy red dress, heels and red lips can make a woman feel attractive, empowered and confident and with Valentine’s day soon approaching, it’s the perfect colour to wear on a date with your significant other.

Also research has shown that the colour red operates at a subconscious level and the wearer is perceived as more attractive and confident!

Studies have also revealed that red is an invigorating colour to wear when we feel lacking in energy or confidence due to its dramatic and positive impact on how we feel. It’s also a great colour to wear when we need to command attention i.e. as a speaker or leader as it’s the colour our eyes are drawn to most. In Chinese culture, the colour red symbolises luck and is believed to ward away evil!

As with most colours, there is a shade to suit most people. You just need to find the right one. Possibly one of the most important things to consider is your colouring when selecting which shade of red to go for. Those with a warm tones in their skin and hair such as auburn, strawberry blonde and ginger will look incredible in red eyewear with a warm or yellow hint to it such as tomato red or orange-red.

Whereas those with cool tones to their hair- grey, white or salt and pepper will look incredible in a blue-based red like raspberry or cherry red.

If you have a lot of contrast to your look – dark hair, porcelain skin and clear striking eyes for example, the brighter, clearer shades of red with high shine finishes will be perfect for you.

If your hair is dark blonde, maybe with highlights or even mousy, a softer red will be better for you and frames with matt finishes/low sheen will be more flattering.

Red is also a huge show stopping fashion trend this season in all its beautiful hues; from bright sunshine red to the deeper rusty reds!
