Oprah Winfrey caused a stir recently as she became the first woman of colour to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement at the Golden Globes.

Her inspirational speech was powerful and moving but as I watched, I couldn’t help being drawn to her fabulous eyewear.

Oprah has been a fan of eyewear for years and has recently been investing in high quality, independent,niche eyewear, as a key component of her fabulous look.

Whilst some may find this extravagant, Oprah’s choice of eyewear is a powerful statement.

As a highly intelligent entrepreneur she knows her eyewear can have a huge impact on how she is perceived. It’s no accident that when she is called on to speak, or host, she favours thick, dramatic black frames which add a strength and credibility to her look, complimenting her personality and enabling her to be respected and taken seriously.

I loved her golden globe choice! A beautifully handmade, jewelled, black cat eye from luxury Italian eyewear brand Sospiri. Her look was powerful and dramatic, whilst still highlighting her cheekbones, flattering her face shape and complimenting her glitzy Versace dress which was so in keeping with the occasion.
